The Begining

I wanted to start this blog as a chronicle of my adventures towards becoming a doctor. A little bit about me: My name is Teddy and I am a wife, mother, RN, and most recently medical student. I applied to Ross University Medical School in September 2009. I had my interview in Fort Worth, TX on December 1, 2009. On December 17Th I received the phone call of a lifetime, I had been admitted to Ross University Medical School MERP program in the Bahamas. It looks like my family and I will be moving to the island of Grand Bahama for 16 weeks, just long enough to complete my first semester. After that it is off to the island of Dominica for 16 months where I will complete the rest of my medical school basic science curriculum. After the first two years of medical school are over we will return stateside and complete the last two years of medical school. Then it will be graduation time...

A little bit about my family. I have a husband, Brandon who is possibly the most supportive and selfless human being that I have ever met. There is my 4 year old daughter, Gabby who is terribly excited about moving to the island and being a "pirate". I also have a step-daughter named Chace. She is 13 years old and we will miss her terribly during the time that we are abroad, but hopefully she will be able to come visit us at least a few times.

Up until this point we have known that moving was a possibility but after the phone call last Thursday it has become our hard reality. Now we have our entire lives to pack, a house and most of our possessions to sell, and an adventure beyond any dream awaiting us. We couldn't be more THRILLED!

Hope you will join us on this adventure of a lifetime!

I am so proud of you having taken these steps and now being accepted! It will be a challenge, but I know you are up to it. We will miss you, Brandon and your little pirate girl, but we wish you the best. Hugs,
Nancy
